The elf did not leave Christmas morning. I was waiting to post this, hoping something would change overnight. What is the protocol for returning these elves back to Santa? Christmas morning I went into the front room to turn on the tree lights and there he was, covering his eyes as if I couldn’t see him. It wasn’t until I poked him twice before I realized I wasn’t dreaming. He tried to convince me that elves always stay on Christmas morning to watch kids open presents. After calling our neighbors I learned that this was not the case, their elves had returned with Santa. We tried calling Santa and his answering machine told us he would be unavailable for the next two months while he was on vacation. TWO MONTHS!
I had a suspicion that one of the kids had something to do with his elusiveness from Santa and quickly learned that Ali was the mastermind. Apparently she had concealed him with her stuffed animals on Christmas Eve and Santa failed to noticed him. Or did he? Maybe Santa is punishing me for that year I ate his cookies. Maybe Santa only picked up the toy elves because he wasn’t used to picking up real ones. Whatever the reason we are stuck with the elf for a little while longer. I need to try and make the best of this situation.
I will keep you all posted when we learn more. If anyone has any ideas on how to get the elf back please leave a comment below.
