Since we have started home schooling this year the traditional out of school days like Spring Break have sort of lost their relevancy. At the beginning of last week, our friends were talking about how they were planning to spend their Spring Breaks. Nikki and I panicked for a moment as we realized we had failed to plan a getaway while the kids were out of school. Nikki then pointed out that we could take Spring Break whenever we decided since we are now our own school district – how sweet is that. I did decided to take the day off on Friday so I could get out of the office and get into the mountains with my boys. Ever since the snow has melted off I have been dying to get back on a dirt trail. There is an abandoned water house on the mountainside, near First Dam, at the mouth of Logan Canyon so we decided to hike up to it. The hike has a quick elevation gain for the first 100 yards but soon tapers off to a flat traverse. This old water house has been named “graffiti tower” by the locals and is the gathering spot for college kids or closet taggers who have never had the courage to tag a building in the city. I have never seen so much graffiti in one spot that did not have at least one swear word. Gotta love Cache Valley. After the hike, we hit the Stokes Nature Trail for a quick bike ride.
This video pretty much sums up our day.
