March 21 (or 3/21, which stands for three copies of the 21st chromosome) is World Down Syndrome Day! On this day people from across the world help raise awareness of what Down syndrome is, what it means to have Down syndrome, and how people with Down syndrome play a vital role in our lives and communities. My son Wil has Down Syndrome, but we know that he can do anything he puts his mind to, Wil Can Fly! We also know that Wil has the opportunity to go to college if he chooses thanks to a foundation called Ruby’s Rainbow.
Their goal and mission at Ruby’s Rainbow is to grant scholarships to adults with Down syndrome who are seeking post-secondary education, enrichment or vocational classes, which in turn helps them get jobs, gives them a feeling of independence, and allows them to give back to their community. But they need your support to keep these scholarships going.
Take the 3/21 Pledge!
3/21 Pledge started on March 1st and will run until the 21st of this month. Each day they hope to raise funds to support these scholarships for the coming year. The goal this year is to raise 100K. We would like to ask for your support by making a donation to the 3-21 Pledge. So far our team has raised $3000! That equals one scholarship! We still have two weeks and would love to provide three more scholarships.
This is how you can show your support:
