Poor Ruby trapped between these wild boys. Meet Ruby (3) and Conner (2) the youngest two kids of the Boulton family. After having four children naturally Lyndsay and Bart were promoted to journey down the road of adoption. This road lead them to three beautiful children two of which are Ruby and Conner. Ruby, who loves dancing and singing, was adopted from Lithuanian and Conner, who I’m told will one day be a gold medalist, from the US.
Below is a small snippet of the amazing interview I had with Bart and Lyndsay:
“I call my kids mirrors – they walk around the house and they show me who I am and how I react to them. They’re very good barometers as to what’s going on inside of our own hearts and I have come to believe, having seven children spanning the ages of 21 to 2, that all of my kids has special needs and in fact all of us human beings have special needs. And some of us, our special needs are obvious from the outside in our physical appearance and most of us our special needs are hidden on the inside of our hearts. Some of my “typical kids” their special needs are equally as intense as Ruby and Connors special needs. Now Ruby and Connors special-needs look like physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy and they have some sensory issues or dietary restrictions. And my “typical children” have greed or anger or they are not getting along with each other or they are rebellious. I think Ruby and Connor are not going to be sneaking out of my house as teenagers, I’m not going to have that worry. Where as, my other ones I might have that worry. I don’t think parenting a child with Down Syndrome or special needs is more difficult it’s just different. Parenting is hard period and its good and it is wonderful and that is why we have done it seven times over. Either that or we are just crazy.”
It was so fun to spend the day with their family and to hear about the struggles, rewards, and joy they feel being the parents to seven beautiful kids.
