I have never been to the Grand Canyon but it has been high on my list of “Must See” locations. We took out time driving through Monument Valley Utah so we pulled into the South Rim of the Grand Canyon around 11:30pm. We originally stopped at an overlook parking lot for the night until we heard strange animal sounds outside the RV. We decided to move to a different lot with more humans. Once we stopped seeing the cougar warning signs, we decided to pull into the overnight parking lot for hikers. I woke up early that morning hoping we had parked on the right side of the canyon for a good sunrise shot, but we were too far to the west. The photo didn’t work out but it was still incredible to sit there and watch the sun rise over the canyon. Something I had always wanted to do.
As I was heading back I heard Gracie calling for me and we went back to take pictures together. Gracie is really enjoying photography lately, and I love the time we have together.
We were so excited to show the Grand Canyon to the kids but somewhat petrified to know that there were no guard rails at this immense drop-off. I’m not generally afraid of heights but when my kids are involved my fear climbs to maximum levels.
I felt so bad for this man I resisted the urge to photoshop him out, he wanted so badly to be a part of our family picture.
