Hello,
My husband and I are 1st time parents with our 4 month old son Abel. He was diagnosed at birth with Down Syndrome along with 2 major heart defects. One of which was treated with surgery at just 5 days old and we are currently in the PCICU with Abel after his 2nd open heart surgery. I am almost certain we felt every emotion we could possibly feel being told our baby not only had Down Syndrome, but had heart defects, and would need to be transferred to a different hospital all in a matter of an hour. We have been thrown many curve balls in the past 4 months to say the very least but it is your Blog that has helped us turn every tear into a smile, every doubt into a goal, every fear into hope. I am forever grateful for stumbling across your website. Reading your emotional triumphs with Will and your family has given us more than I could ever put into words. We still feel very new to the Down Syndrome community and would love to keep in contact and network with other families that can educate us and share their stories to help us through our journey with Abel.
Ashley,
You have no idea how much your words mean to my wife and I. We are sitting here crying as we read your story and kind words. Thank you.
Will you please email me at hello@thatdadblog.com – I would like to connect with you and your husband on Facebook and Instagram and see some pictures of your little guy! We can also network you with other families.
We will send some prayers your way. Lets talk soon.
-Alan

Hi Naoual!
I love your comment that “a child with downsyndrome flies always happy into the freedom of feeling alive”. I have tried many times to describe the happiness that I notice in people with Down Syndrome and I think you have done it.
We would love to be in touch with you through social media and network you with other families that we know. Please send me an email message through the blog so I can get your Facebook information.

Hi Yasmine! Thanks for stopping to say Hi.
I just saw the article about your family on KSL. We live in Fairview, Wyoming which is in Star Valley. My son with Downs just turned 41 years old. What an amazing and different than I expected, life it has been. (OH! I could tell you stories!) Jeremy has been married to wonderful Simone for 12 years now. For 10 years they lived on their own in their own apartment. They now live here with us and we enjoy every day with them. We would love to meet you someday. Occasionally we take a trip to Utah to visit a couple of temples at a time. We just went to Payson and Manti, and are making plans for another trip. Not sure where Paradise is but I’m sure we could make it part of our trip. We live on the way to Jackson Hole and Yellowstone Park so that could be another option!! Jeremy and Simone also fly! (Sometimes up, and sometimes down, but nevertheless, they fly! What a journey!
Hi Cindy,
Thank you for sharing your story about Jeremy and Simone. We have friends who have a daughter with DS and often comment that when Wil and her are married they will live in our basement. Her parents usually reply that they would want them to live in their basement 🙂
We would enjoy meeting you and Jeremy if you are ever in the area.
Best,
Alan
Hello, Alan!
Greetings from the Philippines.
Like everyone else here, I am also a parent of a child with Down Syndrome.
He is our only child, and he is turning 15 soon.
I got so hooked reading that article that a child with Down Syndrome can fly. ?
So, I opened another link to see the lovely photos of Wil which I understand you are making into a calendar for 2016.
It was super wow!
Are you not selling them?
Because I wish to own one ?
Thanks.
Regards to your family, especially to Wil.
Hello, Greetings from Utah. Yes we are selling the calendars. You can purchase them at Wilcanfly.com
We are also donating half of the proceeds to two Down Syndrome foundations so part of the money will go to help others with Down Syndrome. Tell your son Hi from Wil.
Best Regards,
Alan

Hello Alan, greetings from NY
for a long time I wanted to start my own dad blog but didn’t dare nor had enough time to make that first jump, I had seen a few facebook posts about your blog and amazing story. I must say I am totally motivated and inspired now by your blog, so much so that I finally sat down for an entire Sunday to put up my own dad blog, of course I also now count with more time on my hands due to recent cuts in hours at my job, but this makes it all worthwhile. If you don’t mind, I would like to put up a link on my own blog to your blog, since I’m new to the dad-blogging scene and I want to give props to fellow dad bloggers and hopefully be part of the network of dad bloggers. If you have a chance, as I’m pretty sure you must be very busy, and take a look at my blog, and give me any helpful feedback, encouragement or critiques, I’d be very much obliged.
Your story featured on the BBC about “Wil can fly: Photographing the ‘big dream'” is very good and an inspiration. Please extent my family’s greetings to him. He is indeed a star and you are a very good dad. I have many children than you have and I know how we cherish each of them no matter what…..

Thank you.
Hello!
Firstly, I want to tell you, how amazing your photos are and it is a great thing you are doing.
Anyway, my real question is, wheter or not it would be okey for your family and you, if I use a picture of you for a presentation in my school. Currently I study in a nursery school in Austria, Europe and I have written a thesis about the skills of children with trisomy 21 and the profits for the siblings.
I look forward to your reply,
Thank you in advance!
Petra
