It’s been a little while since I’ve told the story about when Wil started flying. Some of you have been asking so enjoy!
When Wil was born our doctor informed us that he had Down Syndrome. We didn’t quite know what to expect. Some books and online articles told us not to accept much for Wil, but we chose not to believe them. Some people felt sorry for us because he had “special needs,” but we all have our own “special needs”.
Shortly before Wil’s first birthday, he learned to roll onto his stomach. Once on his stomach he would flap his arms and wiggle his legs like he was trying to fly. He was so determined to fly and we joked that one day he would take off right before our eyes. Then one day it happened. I was going to check on Wil during his nap and was shocked to see that he was no longer in his crib. I called for my wife and we frantically searched his room. Our search quickly ended as the sound of laughter filled the room. As my wife and I poked our heads out the open window in Wil’s room, we couldn’t believe our eyes. Wil was flying! He was chasing his four siblings around the yard in the most beautiful game of tag I had ever witnessed.
Wil has changed our lives for the better. He is not a burden to our family, he is not a trial for our family, he is just amazing. It’s hard to describe the joy he brings to each one of us. Even though Wil has Down Syndrome, we know that Wil is going to do anything he puts his mind to – Wil Can Fly.

Thank you SO MUCH for this beautiful sharing of your beautiful gift!!
We too have a special gift in our daughter that the LORD blessed us with 29 years ago.
She has what’s called Lis-1. She is developmentally infantile, has never spoken a word, but she has been an incredibly powerful force in our lives. She has brought beautiful change in all of us, we wouldn’t be the same without her.
The compassion and love these precious people offer the world is measureless!
To watch your film brought such sweet joy! What a gift you are giving to everyone that sees it, those who have these powerful little ones in their lives and those who don’t.
Thank you!

Then I was speechless…
I planned to make a comment here about inspiring and positivity and warm feelings…
But I just don’t know really what to say. Just that I hope I can, one day, be more like you. Have a more positive look, see our lives more as fun and joy and make every day count.
It has been rough on us and we are trying to struggle on to the positive side of life again. I want my glass to be half full again instead of half empty!
Thank you!!!
Alan
My wife is the most positive person I have ever met. I have my bad days for sure but she is always there to bring me back up. Thanks for reaching out.
Keep on smiling!
Best,
Alan

inspiring images to say the least, sat here at work a little amazed at the incredible photos you have taken of a truly amazing little boy. I think all children would love to fly, but maybe only the selected few will have that dream come true. Hopefully we can purchase the calendar in the UK.
