I always thought newborn photos would be easy, I wasn’t into photography at the time my other kids were born so I wanted to make sure I got some newborn photos with Wil but this proved to be harder than I thought. I’ve heard that the first two weeks are the easiest time to photograph newborns so I knew I needed to knock out some photos in between the everyday. I mentioned to Nikki that it was important to me to have a photo of me holding Wil with my shirt off, that way everyone could see my ripped body cradling our new baby – after she was done laughing we decided to consider different ideas. We found a photo online of a baby with its hands under its chin, holding its head up as it slept. Are you kidding me? It makes sense to try the hardest photo you can find for your first newborn shots right? Not to be outdone, we gave it a try.
What a handsome little dude. After half an hour of trying to balance him for one shot, I ruled out the idea of using duct tape and decided to just do a composite shot. We managed to get the two composite shots in about 20 minutes and after some quick editing in Photoshop, we had Wil’s first newborn photo.
